Building Campaign: Ensure our Future

Manhattan Day School has been committed over the past 66 years to provide a superior secular and Jewish education to its students. Over the last six years our student population has grown by over 30%, concurrently with our 35 year old infrastructure beginning to deteriorate. We needed to reconstruct our building in order to accommodate our students and faculty and facilitate an environment that is conducive to a first rate education.

After careful planning and consideration the Board of Directors of MDS decided to adopt a plan which called for the total reconstruction of our existing building, over a period of two summers. The result is obvious and the reviews have been stupendous.

Some highlights are a larger and commodious lobby with dedicated stroller parking. A new state of the art science lab and computer lab as well as a spacious and user friendly library. A rooftop 7,000 square foot play area is a welcome addition. We have replaced our entire infrastructure providing for greater safety and efficiency. Lighting, acoustics as well as better utilization of space within the building have all created a warmer and friendlier environment which supports and enhances our values goals and aspirations.

The total cost of our construction project was $14 million. 30% was raised through our building campaign and the other 70% was borrowed through credit lines and short term loans. The benefits of construction have had a positive effect on our students, parents and faculty. We need your help in paying for all that we have gained by the building project.
