November 02, 2010Please log into our website to sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conferences can be scheduled from Wednesday, November 3rd, at 9:00 am until Sunday, November 14th, at 11 pm. Please click here to read directions for scheduling conferences successfully. Please click here to send an email about any questions with conference scheduling. If you would like in-person assistance, we are offering drop-in parent workshops every Monday and Wednesday from 8:15 - 9:00 am in our first floor computer lab for the month of November.

Book Clubs Begin on December 22nd for Grades 2-6!

Grades 2 & 3 Book Club Begins on December 22nd!Our first novel that we have chosen is called The War with Grandpa, by Robert Kimmel Smith. The book can be purchased at Barnes and Nobles (in-store or online) or at Amazon.com. We will be reading the first few chapters together and have a group discussion. In order to participate in the Book Club, each child must have his/her own copy of the book. Please return a signed copy of the permission form to the office to enable your child’s participation!

In order to participate in the Book Club, each child must have his/her own copy of the book. Please sign the permission slip below and hand it in to Marlene in the office.
This program will not only provide tools to enhance your child's literacy, but help him/her along the path to becoming a life-long reader and lover of books! We are looking forward to taking you on a magical adventure!

May 03, 2011We were honored to commemorate Yom HaShoah with three survivors who were partisans in the forest near Lida, Poland with the Bielski group. They shared their stories of peril, survial, and rebuilding their lives with our middle school students.

MDS Wordwork Collection
June 23, 2011We are thrilled to celebrate the completion of our first literary magazine, MDS Wordwork Collection, with contributions from students in Grades 1-6. The selections included reflect the different styles and genres that our students have been immersed in throughout the year. This year’s works are a product of the school’s Writing Fundamentals Program, which was part of a special grant given especially to select schools. We are thrilled that our students’ writing ability has grown structurally and creatively. Most of the contributions were selected by the students for your reading pleasure. Over vacation week, a score of MDS kids learned how to make iMovies at the Apple Store, skated in Bryant Park, and toured the Sony Wonder Technology Lab in midtown. They were a trio of activities Family Fun Days organized for kids enjoying a Manhattan “staycation” for Yeshiva week. Check out the MDS Facebook page to see the Tu B’Shevat iMovies the kids learned to make in a workshop the Apple Store designed just for us. And be sure to keep an eye out for future Family Fun activities. If you missed the last Knicks game, more tickets are coming soon. And for baseball fans, look this spring for tickets to both the Bronx Bombers and the minor league team on Staten Island. And for the younger set, we are planning another trip to Victorian Gardens and more. Stay tuned!Ladies Night Out, January 15th!

View Your Children's Report Cards!
March 24, 2011Report cards are now viewable on our website for grades 1-8. To view your child(ren)'s report cards, simply enter your user ID and password in the box on the upper right hand side of the page. Then click on the words "view report cards" (which will appear in a menu on the left side of the screen). Then click on the report cards and print them out! Remember that there are two per child, for General and Judaic Studies. These report cards will remain viewable on the website through the end of the school year.
